AACJ GLOBAL COORDINATION MEETING

The African Activists for Climate Change (AACJ) Project, funded by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is hosting its Global Coordination Meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia from February 5th to 9th, 2024. This crucial gathering, now in its fourth year, spans eight African countries and brings together key stakeholders, including PACJA, FEMNET, Oxfam Novib, Natural Justice, and the African Youth Commission. The meeting aims to leverage significant events like the African Union gatherings to advocate for climate justice, focusing on policy influence, especially regarding the African Union and the ClimDev Africa Initiative. Key activities include a Post-COP28 reflections session, a roundtable on African critical minerals, discussions on climate finance, and a workshop on climate justice and human rights. The retreat will disseminate Mid-Term Review findings, advance learning agendas, conduct high-level policy dialogues, and address cross-cutting issues like gender and inclusivity, with the ultimate goal of fostering sustainable, inclusive, and climate-just movements in Africa, leading up to COP29.
